The History
Our Story
The main plantation supervisor “Podsin” (Po Ching) is said to be the man standing in the middle in the white shirt (The Great Grandfather of the Directors Moni and Ben). Mr Chang Po Ching reportedly married a woman from Falelatai, Launiu Gafafaitua, and they are the forbears of the Po Ching / Poching family of Samoa, whose descendants are now based mainly in New Zealand, Australia and the USA. Mr Po Ching had been Mr Stunzner’s foreman when the latter worked as a builder in Samoa up until 1915. After a 10-year absence in New Zealand and Germany, the Stunzners returned as planters and put out a call for their old friend, who was in a position to rejoin them in their new venture.
